DC Restoration question

I am restoring a 1954 DC-4, foot clutch, heart shaped front end, one of the last ones built (Sept 1954). DC Tom told us that Case painted the generators and starters flambeau (Bummer, I really liked the black). I have new gauges and I need to know, did Case just mask the lenses and paint the chrome edges, or did they leave them Chrome? Also, wasn't the steering wheel left black? Seems like the Carberator was orange, right or wrong? Thanks!

My DC3 is 8025000 built 6 Jan 53...Can't help with the guages but I have seen no sign of red on the steering wheel spokes (but then there is very little paint at all ). When I rebuilt the carb only red paint was revealed.
Your young men are doing some great work!!!
