This question may be so subjective as to render it unanswerable, but, in your opinion, what is the most desirable flambeau red Case tractor? I don't mean which is the most rare. For example at tractor shows which one(s) do you think draw the most attention?

For me just talking about owning a SC-4 gets a lot of attention. But that is from other tractor people. I think anything with a chicken rooster stands out as being different from the greens and reds in the general publics' mind.

Glenn,
Good to hear from you! That is certainly a loaded question as just about everyone prefers the model that they have now or wanted when they were growing up. When I was at the Case dealer about 1960 and saw a 500 for the first time I was just in Heaven. I still get goose bumps when I hear that smooth diesel run. We had a D as our largest tractor and it got stuck in its own shadow. One fall our neighbor filled silo for us and was chopping with a late model DC pulling the chopper through water and mud. Wow! What a machine! Ever since I have loved late model DC's and now have several as you have seen. In this area people crane their necks to see LP Gas machines-because there weren't any around. Other areas go nuts for orchard or high crops because they were never seen. I would love to find a DO all decked out in orchard tin-it would remind me of my childhood watching the orchards being sprayed. I wish they were still there instead of that damn golf course and condos. Don

I always thought that a DO on propane with the full orchard tin, was very cool looking. It has a look of its own. I know my restored 1952 DC3 gets alot of attention at the shows and pulls. But down here in the south, you don't see many Case tractors of any sort.

Love the LA. I was always a fidgity kid who couldn't sit still on the 830 or DC during those 14 hr days in the field. The LA let me sit on either fender, stand on either side, sit, lean, put one foot on the toolbox & stretch or dance around singing Beatles songs. Suprised I never fell off:).

I like the old LA. Don't have one, but I love to watch them pull at tractor pulls. There is something about a big old hunk of iron tractor working hard. They just seem unstoppable.

After farming with the SC's, VAC, DC's, CC, I would love to have two tractors in Flambeau color, the 500 and LA propane. They would be great to farm with. Big disk and 4 16's. Good fun.

I have a VAC with eagle hitch and a late DC with Eagle Hitch and live PTO. I love them both the VAC is small easy to use and light weight (no ruts in the yard). DCs live PTO better hydraulics and more power makes her more practical for mowing and snow removal...

I would have to go with my Case V on this.Small, runs great, very short turning radius, and my favorite feature is the dual hand and foot throttle.Low production too.Dan in AB

This question is like asking which is the best religion - you are going get a different answer from everybody.

My favorite would have to be either a DC4 or a late model VAC13 or 14 - mainly because these are 2 of the tractors my dad and great uncle bought new when I was a kid.

Never been around them much but it is also real hard to overlook those brutish looking LA's. They just reek power.

My name says it all with my opinion of "red" for a Case color name. I always thought that if you showed 1000 school kids a properly painted Case tractor of the Flambeau series, 999 would say it's orange, not red. Anyways, back to your question, I think the V series (not VA) always gets a short shift for interest as compared to most others. I would think a VO (orchard) would obviously be pretty interesting to see and then maybe an adjustable wide front V (there were some made), I'm not sure whether they were classified as a standard V or maybe were called a VC row crop (adjustable wide front). Just my two cents.

MY FAVORITE IS ANY OF THE D SERIES BUT THAN AGAIN IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO . IF YOU WANT TO MOW THE LAWN THAN A VAC IS BEST JUST PLAY AND SHOW THE SC WOULD BE GREAT HEAVY WORK OF COURSE THE LA OR 500, BUT ALL AROUND THINGS EXCEPT LAWN MOWING I STILL GO FOR THE D SERIES DCTOM

Hey Glenn: Because I don't have 1, I'd say a 500 Diesel. Having said that, you have to really admire a Late DC with Eagle Hitch, Foot Clutch, Adjustable Wide Front with the Heavy Wheels. I have 1 I like so much that I built me another 1.

OK, apparently the photo didn't post the first try. If it doesn't post this time and you want to see it, it's in the "Tractor Photos" on this web site.

Very nice RC, but I have a '41 SC that says you are second! Both of the tractors share the same front and rear wheels, along with the fenders. The '41 SC is in a class by itself in the SC line and that is why I bought it. I think everyone will agree to disagree on this question, because my first love is a '51 DC.

I have a VAC (1951) a DC (1952)a 500 Diesel (1954) and just purchased a Model S. I agree with most that has been said. Depends on what you are using the Tractor for, work or shows. I must admit, the 500 gets alot of attention at shows and plowing matches. I grew up on a DC and still think it is my favorite.

I have to aggree with C. Amick, The RC with a sunburst grille is big attention getter. No other tractor has a better looking grille. plus they were only made for 3 years. Another enjoyable tractor to speculate is the S, I have a VC that is in line for restoration and looking forward to showing it. Happy Winter, Casenut

I Have a '56 500 and a '39 Model D. Although the 500 is impressive, my personal favorite is a straight model D, the earlier the better. This probably stems from the fact that i have a photo of when i was about 2 years old sitting on my dads knee steering his old model D in our farm yard. At the end of the day, you cant go wrong with a Case be it green, grey or Flambeau red!
