Hey I am back its been a while since I posted. I have been on vacation for the holidays. I just got a LA parts tractor today! Befor christmas I talked to a guy that runs a combine salvage yard about an hour from me. He does have a few old tractors so on a whim I asked him if he had an LA. It turned out he did so we struck up a deal I traded him an old swather that we have been wanting to get rid of. Now I just have to get the swather to him and the tractor home. At any rate my questions are as follows. My tractor is serial # 5225673LA and my parts tractors engine serial # is 5108672 but 5108676 on the dash. (must mean that the engine was changed, maybe at the factory because the #s are so close) The parts tractor is missing several parts like mag, carb, intake, and exhaust, manifold (darn) I wish it had that and a few other small things. It does have several good things I can use like rims, drawbar, belt pully, control rods, and many other things. My question is will that sliding gear shaft in the tranny interchage between the two. According to my parts book the eairlear tracter has a diffrent shaft the older tractor has the main gear held on with snaprings and the later one is part of the shaft. My later tractor has the right side of the shaft wollared off were the e brake wheel goes on. I would like to slide the gears of the one and put them on the other and put it back together with the older shaft in the newer tractor if they are the same. Also will the pto out of the older tractor work in the newer one? According to my parts book they seem to be diffrent. Thanks for the help

I'm away from home and my LA parts book this week, but I'll be home Saturday and do some research and get back to you. I've worked on LA
rear ends back in the 70's so I know a little about them.
