oil pan removal - '53 VAS

I am stuck getting the oil pan off my 1953 VAS. The oil pump appears to be pretty low and is preventing the pan from dropping low enough. It looks like I may have to do some major disassembly of the front end to get it off. Anybody else had this problem?

I can post pictures if that helps...is there a way on this site? If not, I can post them on a personal site.

Best way to skin this cat?

Thanks.

Only way to get it off is to take the front end off. Gotta love the sick twisted plans of the case engineer who made that configuration!

Good Luck.

I was afraid someone would tell me this. I'll start studying my manual for hints about how to tackle this.

Any hints about how to support the front end or where is the best point to break it down?

Don't know on the print out from CD, would sure like to know also. There is a lot more info in his manual than mine. I probably have the same one as you, 1955 I&T SHOP SERVICE MANUAL, # C-16. Also I built that support to use when one spilts the tractor, really worked great. I modified the design to work on other tractors. Sure has been a time safer and safety benefit....Good luck.

Gary, go to Skip Jack website, where it say brouse click there, go to Group 2-Engine. Then scan down to page 19 (picture) which will be a picture of support and give dimentions. When I built mine I used all square tubing, mostly what I had on hand. HTH

You said that "Also I built that support to use when one spilts the tractor, really worked great. I modified the design to work on other tractors."

Can you give me specs on the tractor support or where I can find them? It sounds like the way to do it right.

Thanks. Gary

THANKS for the lead..I have not seen that one before. I have the I & T Shop Manual but this Skipjack service manual looks very good.

If you get the DVD version, do the pages print out in good quality from the DVD?
