Hi everyone! My brother had a John Deere # 37 cycle bar mower he was selling so I went to buy it, and wound up trading a car for his Case, ( I did not need the car, and really did notneed the tractor but!!!) he said he thought it was a 410, but he was not sure. I have some pictures of it on a photo hosting page and would like it if some one had the time to look at them and tell me if you think this is a 410 Link
(>Link I also have pictures of my Massey Ferguson 35 utility on this this page as well) I looked for a serial number but only found a place on the dash where it was originaly, but long since dissapeared. She still has the 6VDC electrical system and starts and runs quiet and smoth, he used her to mow last year. she has some bumps and dings and is missing the eagle lift. When I get some time I will unload her and see what I have. I am thinking a loader on her and the eagle lift and I would have a very usefull tractor.
Thanks in advance for any input you fellas have.
Clifford.

Cliff: PLease don't get the idea I'm belittling your tractor, but I really doubt if a wheatland 400 had the Eagle Hitch. I couldn't get a good resolution on the picture, but with that platform and fenders, there is no place for the lift arms to operate. A better judge than me would be Ross Richwine at Alexis Il. He collects the 400 series and probably knows as much about them as anyone in the world.

eagle hitch thoughts in reply to Tom Railsback, 12-29-2004 18:44:57
I took an other look at what I thought was the remnants of the eagle hitch and have decided that you are right about it not having one from the beginning, it apears that some one fabricated some other sort of a mount on the draw bar, I will try and put a clearer picture on the photo site later today.
I called my brother and he said he had taken the serial numbber plate off earlier this year because some one was wanting to look at it before buying it, he is going to send it to me in a couple of days, he said the SN was 8084444, so if I understand correctly that would make it a 1956 modle.

OK, I am dumb! in reply to Clifford, Gallington, 12-30-2004 05:26:15
After looking at what I thought was remnants of a 3 point hitch again and then looking in my manual for my John Deere #37 mower I realized that what I was actually lookinag at is mount for the John Deere cycle bar mower with one wheel, mine has 2 and hooks to the drawbar.
Thanks Clifford

Yes, I believe it is a 400 series round nose tractor. A 410 sounds right.

Clifford, It sounds like you have a 400 round nose tractor or Racine built. Go to the air filter side of the tractor and look were the motorand clutch housing goes together. It sound be in the area of the cup on the engine flange. You can then go to serial numbers and it will tell what year. They were made 1955 to 1957. wish I could see the pictures but canot find them. Enjoy the tractor.

Clifford, It looks like the 400 western I have. I bought my 400 diesel in Colorado ,it looks the same but mine has a foot clutch and is diesel.
Enjoy Jerry

Cliff,

Your flat-top fenders plus the platform style = 400 Special as per the 400 parts book.

The 6 volts threw me at first, I didn't realize the gas are 6V and the diesel are 12V.

Larry
