Can someone direct me to a source of information about the Case Automobile manufactaured from 1909 to 1927? I assume it was manufactured by the same company that made Case Tractors.

Thank you.

Herb,
Thanks for help. I wanted to know such things as: 1) Did Case manufacture their own car engines? 2) When did they start using hydraulic brakes? 3) How rare are Case cars? I have never seen one for sale but I would like to buy one if the cost were not prohibitive. Burke

1.Case took over the Pierce Racine Car Co. in late 1910 and built their own T head engine in several sizes similiar to the Pierce engine through 1915 except in their 1913 Model 30 they used a Continental L head 4 cylinder. 1916 and 17 they used their own L head 4 cylinder. From 1918 through 1927 they used 6 cylinder L head Continental engines of various sizes.
2.They used hydraulic brakes on Model Y and Model JIC from 1925-1927.
3. They built about 27,000 cars. There are a few over 100 that we know about today. Occasionally one comes up for sale.

THe Case automobiles were indeed made by the J.I. Case Threshing Machine CO, makers of threshers, more steam engines than all other manufacturers combined, gas tractors, and all sorts of implements. Get a copy of the book "FUll Steam Ahead" by Dave Erb and Elton Brumbaugh; there's a chapter devoted to Case autos. ALso, get in touch with Herb Wessell of Hampstead MD. He kows a lot about Case cars.

Burke,

I think you need to contact one or more of the following, they might be able to help:
Antique Automobile Club of America

Horseless Carriage Club of America
Link
Veteran Motor Car Club of America
Link

There was one other thing I found in response to a question on Case Automobiles:

In the April 19, 2001 issue of Old Cars Weekly, they published an extensive listing of cars clubs. The only listing I found for Case automobiles is:
J.I. Case Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 081156, Racine, WI 53408-1156. The contact at that time was Ray Hoffman... (712) 534-2644.
