I have a 1958 900B Case. Am wondering if anyone can help me out. The original block is cracked, but I have a good 377 cid block and I have access to 2 complete 504 engines. What are the pros and cons to boring it to use the 504 sleeves and pistons? Someone mentioned that the compression ratio of the 504 pistons will not work with my old 377 heads. I am not trying to make 500 hp, just trying to use what I have to resurrect my tractor. Any help would be much appreciated.

BT,

I did something similar with Case 700, a 4 cylinder. The only trouble I'm having is feeding the engine enough air and gas. I just recently tried it out on a tractor pull sled. In a hard pull it pulls down to 1500 rpms and stays right there. It didn't matter what gear I was in. I pulled it 3 times. Started out 2nd gear, then 3rd, then 4th. Spun out every time dead on 1500 rpm. It won't hold it above that. Seems to have plenty of power there, just nothing over that. I'm thinking hard about how to fashion a different intake for it. I want to do a 900 like yours next. It shouldn't be much trouble at all to find and/or make all the parts and modifications. Email me or call me if you want to know more. I have a good 401 block off a 930 Std. if you are interested. Priced very reasonable in Eastern SD.

The 504 will be direct injected you have to find MM pistons to put in the 504 sleeves but there are rod variances.
