Anybody ever convert a hand clutch Case SC/DC, late 40's to foot clutch variety? Guess it would require moving left brake to right side with later model parts too. Is it possible? Forget the original collectors thing, I want a good useable Case SC/DC. Anyway I would still have original parts for it if I ever get too old and wanted to sell to someone that required the original model controls.

SI, or DI would have all the internal parts that you would need to change to the foot clutch on the non live PTO tractors. Just happens that I have a NOS SI pressure plate that is for sale. Post again or page me on this forum if you are interested. If I leave my email I will end up with a pile of junk mail and 5 viruses. DK

I sure appreciated the advice and offer, but I am still shopping and this question was part of my fact finding. Long and short of it is, too much trouble and expense to convert just because I happen to prefer foot clutch. If I can find a 53 or 54 SC so be it, if not I will live with the hand clutch, not like I haven't operated them before!!

anything older that 1952 and you cant hardly do it; input shaft for non live pto is different so i dont know if pressure plate for foot clutch will work. 53 and after is rather easy if you can find the parts

Hey J: I did it with a '52 DC hand clutch. The brakes were already on the rite side. I think the flywheels are different;, Clutch plates, Pressure plates, Throw-out brg & Input bearing carrier sleeve housing are all different. I had to call around to find the exterior hardware also. You are looking at quite a project.

You will also have to find a different pressure plate.

Ok, It begs the question. Why? Unless you have a loader the hand clutch is handier.

Reasonable question. I grew up on a 53 SC with foot clutch. I was 8 when I could finally press hard enough on the pedal to depress it and from then on I would help out on the farm. The foot clutch with foot-feed acelerator is my personal preference.

If any of you all know of/hear of an SC in reasonable shape and running such that I could use it for a year or 2 before tear down an restoration, post a message. I am looking for one and would really like to have a 53-55 SC. Would prefer in East/central TX, OK, Ark or LA area so I can pick up myself.

Would consider a VAC or DC, but VAC is a little too small and DC a little too big, SC is just right. Sound like someone and the 3 bears here I know, but for my needs the SC is the right tractor. Also would consider 311, 411-B, 430 or 530. Again in running workable condition with tires that would go for a couple of years.
