DCTom, M. Shotte, all others, has anybody bought tractors, implements, anything off the photo ads board? Does YT have any rating policy on sellers? Is there any assurance besides going to look at tractor and visit with the individual that they are trust worthy. Once I send a certified check, he/she"s got my money, do I have any recourse if the seller is fradulent?

i have bought a couple of things from sellers on this site(fenders and a radiator) and was told they were average(no photos) and when I recieved them, I thought they were in exeliant condition almost like new. As some one said above, don't pay more than you are willing to loose.

You made me feel a lot better about some of these ads and I suspected that there would be some hucksters out there on this site too, but it seems that most feedback from you all is positive, with the emphasis on lots of questions which I would do anyway. New digital cameras work to provide a record of what is really for sale with close ups. I would require some of those before I would spend the money to travel a great distance to see a unit.

Looks like some of you have bought on photos alone. How do you get tractors delivered, trucking company or go pick up yourself?

I've had good luck on here and from other sites. But I won't pay any more up front than I'm willing to loose before I know what I'm getting. I live near Kansas City and bought one tractor from Canada, and one from Chicago both with only pictures. Neither were as nice as promised, but both were close enough that I went ahead and closed the deal. Others have already said to ask questions, and decide for yourself, but "buyer beware" is always a good place to start.

I've bought several and sold several on the site without any problems. I agree with another reply that people have different opinions of conditions of tractors. Don't take anything for granted and ask questions. I think nearly all are honest.

I have bought many tractors from this site and for the most part the tractors were what the seller said it was.The only area where i would really question concerns the tires, they are almost always poorer than stated by the seller. You can almost always be prepaired to get a new battery, cables and seat. These are spendy items and will contribute greatly to your investment.

Hey J: I have seen Posts here on this board of crooked sellers. Most guys are no doubt honest, but 1 bad apple can spoil it for many others.

JGarner,

I've sold several tractors on here, (real name is Jeff Sanford), and some parts as well. Just as the other replies to your question say, always ask LOTS of questions. Photos can be deceiving. Don't take anything for granted. Someone's NICE may be someone else's Average or even worse. I've never been offended by anyone asking any question. Sellers should understand the buyer's situation. I've also bought a few items off this site and found that those sellers were honest. Don't deal with anyone who doesn't speak english clearly. Always remember, if sounds to good to be true, it probably is not true. Offer to send a deposit to hold it until you can get there to see it. I've done this for people on short terms. At least you wouldn't loose all your money if it's a hoax. By all means, use your gut feelings. If you ask a lot of questions and the answers are all good, be careful. There should at least be some "so so" or "I don't know" replies on an unrestored tractor of an older age. Maybe this helps. I hope so.
