...stuck '46 VAC I bought late last summer coming apart. Head is off, but it looks like #'s 2 & 3 are going to come out hard. The marvel mystery oil I put in the plug holes (about 1/2 cup each hole) is all gone from the tops of #'s 1 & 4, so they should be free, but it looks like everything I put in 2 & 3 was still sitting there. That stuff sure did a number on the carbon, there was none on the tops of any of the pistons. (Its the first time I've ever tried it on a stuck engine.) Looks like the head is going to be OK. Don't have the pan off yet, so don't have a clue as to what the underside looks like. Any ideas what to put in it for pistons or what else to do to it to make it pull like a champ? (I'd sure like to show up some of those little green things come spring!) I'll probably need some parts, if I can't get what I need around here. I'll keep you posted. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

The biggest[ over the counter ] kit for a VAC is 3 9/16 bore. Check the oil pump over good , input shaft gets loose.

Went out to the farm today & put a carb that had been the cleaner over night back on the neighbor's H Farmall. (Had to do it outside in the four degree weather w/wind blowing about 20 mph, 'cause the VAC is in the shop.) Got that done & went into the shop to warm up in front of the Knipco. Decided to see if the PB Blaster has done its thing over night. Stuck the crank in, put a pipe wrench on it w/3' cheeter, wiggled a little & SHE CAME LOOSE! Took some more wiggles w/pipe wrench, but she finally came clear over. (Once it was clear over, it turned OK w/crank.) Honed the sleeves-they don't look too bad. We turned her over with the crank a few more times & got oil up the journal to the top of the block. (The road tar that's in the crank case is draining now.) In a couple of days we'll pull the pan off & see what the bottom looks like. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
