The late block has extra wide sleeves, can be bored to a much larger bore. I remember one guy put 4 inch Cadilac pistons in the wide sleeve. That block came out around 1952 or 1953.

Do you know if that block will fit in an older SC.

My SC is rebuilt with 3 5/8 pistons and makes around 34 HP it weighs 4500 with me on it and pulls usualy in the top 5 with only weight brackets and a pulling plate on the stock drawbar, the problem is 5000lbs and 5500lbs classes is with dc,m,a, and others and its out classed.

Dad always said the trick to make an SC pull was to have worn rear tires so it will spin enough in 2nd to rev up the engine. After he put new tires on it, it didn't do as well. He ran stock bore and pistons with an LP head on a 41 SC. That high compression head makes all the difference. My stock 44 doesn't have near the snot his did - but I need rings, valves, carb, etc. That old 41 would raise the front end in 1st "real easy."

ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY TO GET THE SAME AS A DC IN AN SC, THINK IT COULD BE DONE BUT I AM TOO OLD NOW TO EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, JUST THINK 260 CI AND MORE RPM'S WOULD MAKE THOES H'S AND WC'S LOOK SMALL DCTOM

I think the AC WD has 4-inch or larger pistons and has around 200 cu. inches of displacement stock. The SC is probably heavier and has only around 167 cu. inches with the 3-5/8" pistons. From what I hear, the Case VAC, DC and LA are the more competitive tractors of that era.

We had many SC's back home on the farm when I was there and always thought they were better than the H or B but the Super H had more horses. Always found that the SC was too heavy for the horses it turned out. Never seen anyone successfully make the SC a good puller not that it couldn't be done although the V, D, and L make better tractors to modify for pulling.
