Over on E-bay there is a case motor A504BD, it says it was never installed, it was an extra for the military, it was supposed to go in a wheel loader. Does anybody know if this is the same as a 13 & 1570 used?? Also what is the biggest gas motor that case produced?

The 504 case engine was used in the 1370,1570,2470,2670 and in some of the W seris front ennd loaders. All will interchannge but may have different horsepower dependinng on the acc. The main difference was in turbos and aftercoolers.

It is not the same as the 1370 I think it would be simmilar to what was in a 2090(NA) or 2290(turbo) They had a different head with smaller valves an I think lighter crankshaft. These motors were also used in wheel loaders.

The 401 gas in the 970 is the biggest one I know of. And I would think all blocks are cast the same, so that 504 should fit up to an ag tractor.

Wasn't the 970 Gas a 377 cubic inch engine? I've never seen a 401 gasser.
