Ok guys I think I am going to need help here again. Several days ago I removed the top cover off my transmission and all looked good. Today I decided to see why someone had removed the emergancy brake wheel and band and welded a piece of heavy pipe with plug to the bearing casting on the right hand side. After removing the casting that holds the outer race I saw why this was done. At some point in the tractors life the e-brake wheel came loose and wallered out the key and spun on the shaft. Instead of replacing the whole sliding gear shaft they just removed the wheel and welded a plug over it. Also it appears that the outer race of the timkin bearing has been spinning in the casting on just the right side. I emagine that to replace this shaft would be really expansive. I think that the shaft might be able to be built up and turned back down and a new keyway cut but I dont know. Inside the tranny case the rest of the shaft looks fine. I have a friend that is a machinest and I would like him to look at it. I also have aqired the engine and tranny out of the sp12. I am told the tranny is the same as a D series tractor so If I could trade parts to get a good used shaft, casting and e-brake wheel/band I would be very interested. I might have a home for the engine but if not I could trade parts off of it too.
