We have a Case 2290, 1070, and 2470 that all seem to slip in third range on the powershift. Anyone know what would cause this to happen? We had the 2290 apart last week for engine work and notice the torque limiter clutch disk had the surface worn down to metal on the metal disk side facing the rear of the tractor. The side facing the flywheel looked brand new. While we had it apart we put a knew seal kit in the power shift, and everything looked good in there.
Would the worn down torque limiter clutch cause the tractor to slip in thrid range?
If so, could this be the problem with our 1070 and 2470? ANY feedback would be great, Thanks Case400

Also, anyone know where I can get a service manual for a 4694 Case?

check linkage and cable adjustment it almost sounds like the valve is not fully engaging C2 and C3. and yes it could posably be the worn torque limiter plate

The higher the gear/range, the worse the torque limiter slip. If problem is in the powershift, hyd"s are USUALLY weak in different powershift ranges, like 2nd or 3rd.

400, MY 4490 service manual has 4694 info in it, although it is a newer printing. Got it with the tractor.
The torque limiter clutch is always in use so it would have nothing to do with hi slipping. If it is the torque limiter clutch you should be able to make it slip any range any speed.
