We have a 400 use to have no power stering. Currently does alot nicer for doing everyday chores and backing up imp;ements and going over rough terrain exspecially if you have a narrow front if you hit a pot hole it can fling the stering wheel. You should check out a salvage yard many models in that era of cases should work or check your deeler they may be able to get a new one that will fit it.

cb,

I"ve got the same tractor with manual steering and haven"t had any need for power steering for field work. If it has a loader it might be another story. I use mine and sure like it.

thanks for the replies. i have had several tractors over the past few years, all but just a couple has had ps. it makes it easier, but of course it's not absolute necessary, to have the ps. i,ll check the salvage outlets for availability and price. have a good day
