You gotta remember that Mr 730 was a product of the 60's. Vietnam, free love, the Beatles. Alot of "smoking" was going on. You may have pull the ole 730 by the fender [ear]to the Detox [mechanic], and give it the treatment. Once there they may find a water bong[cracked head], or shot lungs [sleeves], bad advice {guides] may have gotten Mr 730 where he is at today. Insurance [your wallet] will only cover certain procedures, and the state [ County retirement home a.k.a. junkyard] may have to take over.

Is the smoke black or whitish blue? If it ia black the timming may be off. I have an 800 diesel that we bought on a sale it would start at 20 degress without any aid however it smoked black with no load above 1200 rpms

Hey Haymaker: The 1st place I'd check is the air cleaner & stack. Make sure the stack pipe is clean right up to the pre-cleaner.
