How hard is it to convert the foot clutch on a DC to a hand clutch? I learned to drive in the 60"s on a DC with a hand clutch!!!!! !!!!!

I will jump in on this. I don't understand why the foot clutch got popular on farm tractors. You have better control and can more evenly engage the load with the hand clutch. Previous posts indicated the pressure plate wear is better with the hand clutch because of the lever fulcrum over the center. Modern combines have manual transmissions but use hydro-static for the final drive to control ground speed. I wouldn't buy a lawn mower that wasn't hydro. And hydro isn't for everthing - for heavy pulling you need a gear and clutch. You need a foot clutch for multiple gear shifting (cars and trucks) but the hand clutch should have never gone out of style on farm tractors.

the foot clutch on DC SC case tractors all had to do with the live pto. operators manual stated for the operator to engage main clutch when useing pto on auger or elevator because live pto ran thru a bronze bushing and if the main clutch was engaged the whole unit turned and if not the bronze bushing would ware out and cause problems, too many guys didnt do that and wore out the bushing, butt he foot clutch soulved the problem tom

I'll make you a deal. I swap you all the components for a hand clutch with LPTO for the foot clutch components. I'll even pay the freight. My email is unlocked but if you need it it is: fmi@online.com.kh
