Hey,

Just how tough is it to find a Case S? Don't seem to see many for sale.

I bought one from Arland Nelson in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He had two at the time and I believe he still has the other. I believe it's the "Canadian" one refered to in earlier post.
Arlands e-mail is adn@telusplanet.net

the 43 s belonged to my dad. he bought it at auction in the late 60's. as far as I know it was sold new in this area.my dad was the third owner.only used it to blow silage cause it has the belt pulley.he used it up until the late 80's or so. it started to not want to start very easy so he broke down and bought a pto blower. the old case sat int he old barn until it started to cave in, and that's when I pulled it home. it sits under roof now, partially apart, sheet metal, radiator, wheels are off.haven't started to tear down the engine yet.someday ..

You might send Dennis Bealer (dbealer@fast.net)a message. He lives in PA. He goes to NY and other places picking up old tractors to sell or part out. He may know where there is a Case "S" model.

Actually, I think Dennis just moved close to me, in Bangor PA. If I remember he had a Oliver RC along the road and in the photo ads that I had stopped and looked at.

I looked for over a year to find mine. It was in Canada and I live in the Kansas City area. It was all original and in very good shape, but wrong color. I am painting each piece as time permits, so I have a yellow and orange ugly bug right now. People say the standard S's are plentiful, but fewer than 1000 units were made most years (41 and 50 are only exceptions). There are SC's everywhere, but not S's because I looked pretty hard. Of course shortly after I bought mine ($1000 plus $450 to ship it to KC from Canada) a nice restored one was advertised on this site for $1700. I called right away and it was gone. I bought this one cause it was just like one Dad drove as a kid, and is the perfect little brother to his 49D. I gotta believe they are more prevalent out here in the plains than in your area. I always have my eyes open. Drop me an email if you want and I will send you pics of mine, plus keep the address in case I find one.

I have the Full Steam Ahead book that provides Sales and Production numbers which seem to be different, not sure which to use. But let me make a point here. True, there are years with that have under 1000 recorded but there were 8795 Standard S made. Now add the SOs, some 1817, which are basically the same tractor. We now have 10612 over 10 years. Then I could add the SIs at 3740 produced. Anyway, that is quite a few. I do have a JD BO and I do see these or BRs for sale around here and total product is just over 11000 (combined). So you would think I would see a Case S or SO. Now interestingly enough I do see Case SIs for sale occassionally. A friends's father found one plus there is one in Maryland at the moment and I've seen about 3 over the last year or so for sale. Go figure...

There out there. I have a 44(with brass brake pedals) and a 47 both with stuck engines and good sheetmetal. There located in western SD. If interested email me. I have lots of pictures.Should be enough parts to make one good one or restore both of them. Engine parts (sleeves/pistons, and rings)available from Case yet.

Did you ever post them on the net? I seem to remember a set out west, don't remember the state for sale but a bit too far for me. I'm in PA.

Pretty Common depending on where you are from, even seen them sell on Ebay, there was a guy here on the classifieds trying to sell one in Canada, I assume you are taling about a Straight S and not the SC or another version

Glenn,

Yes, not a SC but the little standard. Never seem to see one when I have some money always when I don't. Or they are out in the mid west and I'm here is PA. I do like these. I had a 1950 VAC that I sold with the intentions that I would get a Case S somewhere along the line. That was 3 tractors ago (JD BNH, Allis B Cane Special and a Ferguson 40). Now I have a Massey Harris Pacer in restoration so money going into that. Still would like to find one that runs and doesn't cost to much. Another future project.
