I noticed a post with a problem finding the flat spring for the eagle hitch, I've recently bought two sets from the local CaseIH dealer, the part number on the package is A27670, in my parts book number it's 09228AB, I used that number for the parts guy to look it up. Price is $6.39 ea. made in the USA.

I don't have any on the Eagle Hitch on my 300. Is this the right part number for it? What does this spring do? I've noticed a bolt on the top of the arm that isn't doing anything. Does the spring fasten under this bolt?

Yes, that bolt is for the spring. And to answer the rest of your question, it holds the latch up so you can hook up by just backing into the pins on whatever you are hooking to. and it keeps the latch down so things don't come unhooked when you don't want them to.(ie Roto-Tiller) Made mine out of power hacksaw blades

Hey C. Amick: I think the bolt you refer to holds the step in place.

John; The 300's didn't have a step, the eaglwe hitch is designed a little differant and a step wouldn't work on it. The make shift springs do work alright for show tractors where they aren't used that much, I made some out of some rather hard and springy stainless steel, does the job. Roger

Did the 300 have steps on the hitch arms? I would think it would be tough getting on this tractor from the rear.
