I used a 148 out of a 311b, cut the head 125 thou, and turned the rpms.I won alot with the the tractor. I still had a hard time with some super C's over 4.5 mile per hour. I would find a 188/201 gas and put it in the Vac. It takes some mods, but should give you good returns.

Some people put the guts out of a 148 cu.in. engine in the VAC block. Have you done that?

The best way to increase hp on a VAC for pulling purposes, is to jack up the radiator cap, pull your VAC out from under it, and drive a DC, or an LA under it....Problem solved. JMHO.... Arthur
