My 930 simply has no powersteering at all I tried reversing the lines and it made no difference at all so I put them back to like I had them to begin with and that is how my 940s lines are hooked up and it works great. I am getting oil to the cyl both lines have oil in them when I take them loose. Also my 940 has to be jump started all the time now and the gen light only comes on when cranking not on all the time like it use to be. I took the gen to Napa and had the reg tested and it tested bad so I replaced it and polarazed it and the gen light still is not on after cranking and the bat is still dead. I am going to have the bat tested in the morn. I need some help here GRIN. Thanks R Wyler

We bought a new 930 in the "60's" and no power steering was a problem. It turned out that the fix was installing a grease fitting in the upper collar (the one just under the dash panel) and greasing regularly. No more problems.

Dealer told me to use Hy-tran in powersteering. It locked up the check valve. Pump would get very hot.
A guage connected to pressure side of pump should tell if it is working.

Thanks for the info it sounds like that was some bad advice they gave you GRIN. I am going to do like you said and hook a guage to it. R Wyler

Are the pumps the same type so as to be able to swap them around and see if that helps at all? Seems to me it's normal for the gen light to be on when you're cranking it. Put a new battery or two in and check the charging with a voltmeter, and see what you're getting. I'm not a mechanic, so you'll have to take it for what it's worth, but that's what I'd do. Good luck.

Yes SHieserman the pumps look to be the very same that is a good idea It would tell weather or not that pump is working correctly. Yes I am going to get that battery checked and take it from there. I would like to put it back to the duel 6 volt battery system. Thanks for the help. R Wyler

Hey R. Wyler: 2-12V Batteries hooked in Parrall is a much better system than 2-6V hooked in Series. That is why all manufacturers use a Parrall hook-up today. I would say you have a battery problem, or a bad connection. Sounds also like you have a pump problem. Good-luck

Thanks John yes I brought up the subject regarding those batteries last winter the reason I mentioned useing 2 6s is to keep it original though I can certainly see how 2 12s would work much better would 2 6s become a source for problems even on my 940 lp? I know diesels take alot of cranking power over gas engines. And that pump must be not right I am going to take it in to a place that can check it out and I think I will have to replace it. R Wyler

Hey R. Wyler: 2 batteries hooked in series is less forgiving than 2 hooked in parrallel. For instance, it takes all 2 6V's can give to make 12V. Any problem & you don't get 12V. 2 12V's in parrallel and you always have 12V, even if it is coming from 1 batt'y.

Yes I can see how that would be a source for problems to take place. 2 12 volts would look the same as 2 6s so that may be what I do on that one sometime. R Wyler
