Looked at the 530 and it turned out to be a CK model, just what I was hoping for. Its sat now for about 6 years, all but the last 6 months indoors. The engine started knocking so they parked it way back when.

Here are some observations: Radiator cap is missing. Owner said he never had one on it! I work with his son who vouched for that statement. It has one really bad tire and wheel but it comes with reasonable replacements. The cylinder shafts have very light spots of surface rust. Rubbing my finger nails over them I could just feel a pock mark. I'm hoping that emery cloth as suggested in the owners manual fixes them for a while. One of the boom cylinders has been welded together where the cap screws in. Apparently a repair shop botched the rebuild so the owner welded it shut. Worked for several years that way. I'm sure I'll have to replace that one. Any suggestions on where to get one?

Probably the oddest thing was the steering wheel turned in full circles like it wasn't hooked up. I'm assuming this isn't normal but at the moment don't know what to look for.

It has the model 32 loader and 32 backhoe so it is a CK model. Has the 188 diesel engine. A friend of mine has done a couple of in-frame rebuilds and has promised to help with the engine rebuilt.

I'm a little confused as to what transmission it has. The operators manual says if it has the clutch oil pressure gauge and the converter temperature gauge it has a Torque Converter drive system. Hoever I can't seem to find the Direct Drive lever that is supposed to be on the right side of the steering column. At least the pictures I took don't seem to show it. Also I can't tell by the pictures I took if it has the Range shift lever. So I don't really know for sure what it has. With the guages I would think it would have a torque converter drive??!

Oh yeah, I guess the brakes don't work either. They haven't worked for as long as he has owned the rig, which is about 12 years or so. OH well, I guess I now own another tractor without brakes! (my 2N doesn't have working ones either)

The tractor should be delivered in a couple of weeks (cost me a 30 pack!). In the mean time I'm hoping to locate a service/repair manual and a few good sources for parts.

Any suggestions?!

Thanks

Brad
