i did this with a 930. it was a big project but it worked well. i bored the engine out to put in 1370 sleaves 2090 pistons 1170 rods 970 push rods and rockers. i ran the lines over the top as you said. you could use 970 piston without boring the engine. on the bolt patern difference i just plugged the bolt hole that dont match up with a frost plug and it worked fine. i used the 930 head bolts and just washered them to take up the extra length. i thought that might be a problem but it wasnt. i pulled this tractor succesfully for 8 years befor i sold it. the new owner has been running it now for about 5 years and it is still very competitive. here in my erea we have to have a stock block to pull that is why i did all that work

The head bolt pattern is different, so running new (made-up) fuel lines and new pistons are only the start of your problems. It would be easier to bolt a 70 series motor into your 30 series tractor.
