On the Case Vac heads how do you all torque down the head? The head doesn't just have studs coming out the top like most. On the side of the head you can't get a socket on it. How do you all torque it down. Thanks

Piece of cake Nicholaus, find yourself one of the old pointer torque wrenches, it will fit between the pushrod tubes. Then go to your local secondhand store ,get a 11/16 socket (I was lucky when I went looking for socket found a Craftsman for $1.00) grind it down so the the overall length is 1 1/8 inch long. Will fit like a champ, torque to spec.s. I started to throw my Dad's old style torque wrench away couple monthes ago, glad I kept it now, put it away as a specialty tool for later use.

You can fab a torque extension or purchase one that is designed for that purpose. In the diesel trade the extension use to be called an "under rocker arm ext". Case p/n is 1257. That nr is sometimes preceeded by CA or CAS.

The link is to the same tool made by Snap-on p/n S8663B that I purchased from a Case dealer several years ago. Other tool mfrs also make this extension.

Note that the original nuts were wrench size 11/16" some tractors have been changed to the more common wrench size 3/4" for these nuts. Take care in not denting the sides of pushrod tubes.
