I recently saw a picture of a very old D Case ( had the small dash with one guage on each side of the steering column)and a dual fuel tank on it.The thing that caught my interest was that it was on 26'rubber but had full 6bolt tin rims, the hubs werent on it. The wheels were bolted to the axle where the hubs are normally bolted. I have a couple of old D's and that looks like an excellent way to shed about 500lbs. Does anyone know what those rims would have come off of? They looked like they belonged, they were however turned in as I dont think there would have been clearange the other way. My D has 24'' rubber with the flanges welded to the outside of the open rim. Thanks

The early D's had wheels that bolt on just like the CC's and early DC's. I think the pressed steel wheels off an early WC Allis might fit. My 40 D has the bolt on wheels like that. I have the steel wheels that are called sand wheels. They look like dual steel wheels. With the steel on the front it weighs under 3500#. Enough traction on a good dirt track to power out and spin out at just about the same time in low gear. No one has ever given me any competition.
