your 430 probably has a 148 motor. It is a real pain to change to any other motor because the length of the 188 and 201 motors are about 1-3/4 inches longer than your 148. Thus front wishbone has to adapted, steering has to be adapted, and the hood has to be lengthened. If your 430 was a 188 diesel it would be an easy swap out. Another thing is if you get an older 148 motor you have to get the flywheel to as there was a bolt pattern change from the old 148 to the newer 148.

The 430 gas was a G148B only. The 530 gas had a 159 cu. in. The 430 & 530 diesels were the 188 cu. in. There are some salvage 148 motor's out there but I would say rebuild what you have ...if at all possible.

If your 188dsl has a three bolt starter, a 188 gas or 201 gas should bolt up. I put a 188 gas in a 530 case, and it worked just fine.
