Split my tractor in half to replace the ring gear in my DC and have the two halves 1" from being together again. Have run out of ideas as to what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Bill, if you have a live power DC the PTO splines may need to be rotated slightly to allow them to line up on the clutch. Put the PTO in gear and turn the shaft. Bruce

You must have both flanges separated by the same distance all around. You should have the clutch disengaged so the clutch plate can move between the flywheel and the pressure plate. Stick a couple of 3/4" solid rods in the large bolt holes on each side of the engine and transmission. They will help align the two halves and help put it back together. Make each rod about 15" long. Use the crank to turn the engine very slowly one revolution while applying pressure to push the engine toward the transmission housing. It should go right back together. Don't force it to hard or the ball bearing in the flywheel could be damaged. They work on DC's and SC's. I install the rods as soon as I take out the two large bolts. I also have a hole drilled in each end of the two pins and install spring clips so the two halves do not move too far apart.
