Fellows, Please have some patients will me. For this is my first real tractor. When I put the transmission in any gear & let out the clutch pedal the tractor does'nt move at all. Bad clutch Right? but when I push in the clutch pedal & engage the pto & release the pedal the pto spins? I would think if the clutch is bad the pto wouldn't work. also about 4-5 inches behind the clutch pedal is this horizontal lever. is this a hand clutch? if so how does it work? The old fellow who I got the tractor off of can't remember how it works. I think it may have the triple range althougt I not sure because it doesn't have the shuttle shifter. is it bad job changing the clutch? I notice some grease/oil coming out of the torque tube where the clutch pedal rod is. could this be an rear engine seal or an transmission seal? just trying to prepare for worst case sernio. also need to find the nessary parts. Sorry for the long post. Thanks DaveF.

The lever on the left is a hand clutch. Put tractor in nuetral,Push your foot clutch in, push hand clutch forward to the engaged position, put tractor in gear, let the foot clutch out and you should be in business. Operate the tractor with the foot clutch and use the hand clutch to disengage the drivetrain when you get in a bind such as a bush hog pushing you into a tree or dangerous area. This was considered the same as a live pto in the 60's. Triple range would be indicated by a shift lever right of the steering wheel. This lever can be shifted up and down and can be pulled out and shifted into a 3rd range, thus triple range. If that lever can only be shifted up and down but not pulled out it is a dual range.

Try moving that lever behind the clutch with the tractor in gear. Go easy when you move thelever as it is a clutch. You use this clutch when using the pto.
