First I must say thanks in advance for any help that you might be able to give.
I just purchased a 1957 Case 530CK Backhoe/ Loader.
It has a gas engine and a upflow carb.. I can settle down in the seat push the button and she starts right up! Runs like a champ. I use the backhoe for a while/ or use the loader for a while and start to get hesitation. Finialy she will just stall. I try to restart and she will sometimes backfire through the exhaust. Thats it 30 min. +/- of work and she is all done. Now the next day I can go back to her and sit down push the button and the process starts all over again. Does anyone know what the heck is going on???? All antifreeze is good, no water in oil. I just don't know. Any help that you can give is much appreciated.
Thanks Adam

If it takes a 1/2 hr to happen it is more likely electrical. Next time it happens check for spark, then you can track it down from there.(point gap too close-bad condensor-bad coil-worn out ign switch) hth

Hey Adam: If it is a '57 it isn't a 530CK. Anyway, your problem sounds rather simple. It sounds to me like a fuel problem. Could be an obstuction in the float valve in the carb. or in the line, or the sediment bowl. The screen on the bowl could be plugged, or even above the screen.

I forgot to add that it has a 12V system.
Sorry

I would make sure fuel and ignition systems are ok, but it could be valve adjustment. I have a 530, and had same problem. If the valve clearance is too small, then after warm-up the valves will not close all the way, causing loss of compression. It is exceptionally easy to adjust the valves on this engine, and it makes a big improvement. Even if it is something else, you should still adjust the valves periodically.
