Extra Throttle Spring...?

My '54 SC has what I'm thinking is an extra throttle spring someone added at some point. On the radiator end of the throttle linkage on the right side of the engine there is a nut with a 1/4" washer for a loop welded on it. There is then a spring running forward from there to a bracket near the water pump. It is a nice looking job but I don't think it is factory. Can anyone confirm this? I'd like to take it off but haven't tried yet. Maybe when I do I'll figure out why it's on there. I have been watching at tractor shows and haven't seen any like mine. Should that spring be there? Thanks, Glenn F.

There is supposed to be a spring on there. I don't know if you have the correct spring or not. The one the 1949 models is a short spring with a large diameter. Just guessing, it's probably close to 1-inch in diameter and may be a couple inches long.

Now you don't mean the spring which connects the throttle linkage to the governor arm do you? If so, mine has that one and the other spring I attempted to describe. Does this make sence? Thanks, Glenn F.

Hey Glenn: If you have more than 1 spring up there then someone added 1.

Yes, I was thinking about the governor spring. I don't recall another one, but your tractor is a later model than the ones I'm used to working on. John Saeli should know, unless he was thinking about the same spring that I was.

Hey Glenn: It's factory.
