I bet I'm going to end up feeling really dumb asking this. I couldn't find a dip stick. I did see what I thougt was a plug near the top of one side of the oil pan though. Surely Case didn't expect the farmer to check oil on the engine with by removing a plug? Goto get a manual for this thing.

I replaced the plugs with radiator drain cocks. You are supposed to drain the oil off to the bottom plug after every 10 hours of operation, if you are burning something other than gasoline. I guess the unburned fuel floats to the top of the oil.

I put a pitcock in mine - my tractor needs rings so it uses oil and I have to check it frequently.

I understand a person was to drain off the oil down to the add hole and use that oil to replace the oil in the air cleaner. Then refill the crankcase with new oil. Keeping the air filter clean is actually more important than frequent oil filter changes. A lot of dirt comes in through the air intake. Glenn F.

Glenn,
I took the front wheels off the old girl and am going to sandblast and paint them and put some tires on so I can move it into the shop.
Then I am going to tear down the engine and take it to Cast Iron Welding in Henry, TN. They did a good job on my '37 WC block and I'll let them check it over and tell me the verdict. I think I am going to try rebuilding it. The chances of finding a good block are probably slim although there should be some out there somewhere.

Yep, no dipstick, check the oil using the top plug in the oil pan.
