Book says to take steering arm (short link to drag link) off of worm gear and turn the shaft 180 degrees to use unworn section of gear. Then reinstall steering arm. You should be able to just turn the wheel to rotate the shaft. The book also talks about the tension adjustment screw on the right hand side of the shaft - adjust to remove end play without binding. If there is end play in the vertical shaft (steering wheel) that can be adjusted with the nut on the end of that shaft below the worm gear. You would have to open the transmission to get to that nut.

I did both of those things already. Turning the 180 degrees helped significantly, but it still could be better. I'm told some bearings are typically worn out. I will have to do some checking/talking around before I do anything. I have seen many tractors of all colors at tractor shows with more play than mine have. Thanks, Glenn
