Have decided to restore the SC

Don't know how long it will take to start restoration on the SC that my neighbor gave me and helped drag home Sat, but the more I look at the old girl, the more I think she needs to run again. Got some questions though. I know I will have to get a manual but there are a few questions that I need to ask now.
1. Will a DC Zenith Carb work on this SC?
2. I have a junker Farmall H with some good rear tires and rims. It looks like the rims might fit right on the SC. Anyone know for sure?
3. What is the correct size for the front tires? 16 in"?
This tractor might be a challange for this old AC guy, but all the levers seem to move and the sheet metal looks pretty good. Are fenders available? Mine are rusted down at the bottom. Has anyone had any luck in rebuilding fenders?
Thanks for any info.
Dave

No, I'm pretty sure the DC carb will not work. V a l u - b i l t Tractor Parts has rebuilt SC carbs, if you want to spend the money to go that route. Yes, the rear Farmall rims will work. I think front wheels off an AC WD will also work. The Delco distributor off a AC WD will also work. Fiberglass fenders are available. Don L. ([email protected]) is supposed to be getting some reproduction steel fender skins to sell. I hope that water hasn't gotten into the block and frozen and cracked something. I'm in WV, not may Case SC's around here either. Mostly Farmalls and those green things. Email me if you think I can be of help.

Thanks C.,
There are also carbs on this site for $144.
However, I think I'll try a WD carb first. I have a couple of them here.
The front wheels are not a problem. They are cast iron and I'll only have to get some tires on them. I'll probably go for some new ones. The 550-15 in aren't that expensive.
I agree, I hope water hasn't gotten into the block, but I feel pretty good about that because it has been covered. I'll have to open it up and see. The weather here does get cold enough for that to be a problem. I once opened up a AC "B" and water had gotten into the middle 2 cylinders and split the sleeves inward to the block because of water down the exhaust pipe.
This tractor has a distributor and if it is salvageable, that won't be a problem. I'm getting excited about it's possibilities, but I have to finish a couple other projects that I started first. (The WD45 WF, WC, Ford 9N,) Guess I'll put the H on the classifieds and part it out.

You're a good man, Dave. Carb, I don't know but I doubt it. H Farmall rims if they're drop center, and I think they are, yes they will fit. Front wheels 5.00 or 5.50x15". Fenders...good luck! I have two pair I may well be repairing. There is a deal in the works with Camboted on this post to have some repros made. I'm sure he'll keep us posted. Glenn F.

Thanks Glenn,
Thinking about the old Farmall was my deciding factor. I only paid $100 for it and have already stolen the new front tires for my '37 WC. Realizing that the rims (with tires) might fit the SC and could save me quite a few bucks was the factor that made me decide to restore it. Some might say I should restore the Farmall, but I think the SC is more unique. Also, there are quite a few Farmalls in our club but I haven't seen any Case' other that VAC's. I think a pretty SC would look good next to my '37 WC.
Maybe I could sell some parts off the Farmall to help pay for the SC work.
I was reading in the archives about carbs and I thought I remembered someone mentioning that a DC would work. Also, there was some indication that a MS from an Allis was being used. I could try that first. There might be some difference in rod hook up though. Hope the engine isn't too set up. The exhaust pipe has been kept covered though.
Going to have to order an IT manual.
Dave
