My 930 CK 6 speed has a bad oil leak where the grear shift shaft goes into the top cover. I am going to be repainting this tractor and putting a cab on it soon I don't like it leaking that much oil I imagine that top cover has to come off to replace that seal is that correct? Tearing into that does not sound fun that is alot of work even getting to the cover much less removeing it. I appriciate any ideas. R Wyler

Have you checked the little trans. vent filter? If it is plugged it will allow pressure to build up and force oil out the seals.

Well it is pretty dirty under there I will check it tomorrow that is very interesting I did not know that thanks for the advice I really appriciate it. By the way Jim I see you have one of your Case's in the photo section I bought one just like it this summer that is the tractor I am talking about actually I bought an Eggings cab just like the one you have it looks like a nice cab how do you like yours? I have a new Bycool to put on it as well. As soon as I get wheat drilled I am going to begin painting that cab. R Wyler

My six sp. 930 was so dirty under the cab I couldn't get the lever to go far enough front to back to get it into 6th gear, after blowing the dirt out it goes into all the gears, it was dry dirt & not oil soaked, at first I thought I had major trans. problems but the air blow gun took care of that. Evidently the guy in Colorado that I got it from never used 6th gear.

That is getting pretty bad when it affects the shifting. I know how that is though buying a tractor or anything else and haveing some serious cleaning to do and it is a good feeling to clean them also. R Wyler

I've enjoyed my Egging Cab. I worked for Egging Cab Co for 9 yrs as a welder. 1973-82. I had bought this tractor without a cab and put it on before I used it in 1970. This cab is for a Montanta bound tractor. that is the fenders are raised 4" from standard. I extended the front axle in 1975 to the same wheelbase as a JD 4640. It rides a lot better. I now have 8500hrs. and just put rings and bearings at 2800 hrs. and have not done anything to it since. It runs great. My field tractors now are a 1979 2390(bought new) with 6600hrs and have done nothing to it and it still goes 100hrs without adding oil and hols 60lb oil pressure,. and I have a 1994 9230. with 2800 hrs.

That is something about the fenders I did not know. I recall reading in the archives about Egging where you said you welded for them. I imagine that axle extending would help alot. I would like to have a 90 series sometime myself those Case's are the best. R Wyler
