Replaced the fuel pump, primed, and timed it. I have tried to pull start it but it blows smoke out but doesn't try to start. It has plenty of compression. It has glow plugs (I guess that's what they are) on the manifold. I have not had the tractor long and it was not running when I purchased it. Any suggustions would be appreciated.

I did quite a bit of work on my 530. E-mail questions and maybe I can help.

Make sure the fuel injection pump stop is all the way forward. If that is correct, the fuel injection pump may be installed incorrectly. Remove the tappet cover, watch the movement of #1 rocker arms as you turn the motor over by hand. When #1 comes up on compression, and the timing mark on the flywheel reads 4 degrees BTDC, check the injection pump timing marks through the timing window. If there are no lines there to line up, you'll need to remove the fuel injection pump, turn the fuel injection pump until the lines line up in the fuel injection pump timing window, then put the pump back on again. If the motor has compression and fuel is getting to the pump, it will run. Good luck.
