Hi, I hope I might be able to get some much needed help here..I have searched the internet and found this great site, and I have read alot of the messages that might pertain to my situation, but so far I am still coming up empty. I have a DB 995 diesel, not sure of the year, but believe the 70's..I have been trying for 4 days to get my lift to operate and can't. It has been parked in the weather the last 3 years, which was the last time I used it and it was fine then. I know, I could kick my butt for neglecting it! but we recently were hit hard by Hurricane Charley here in Central Florida and I have many trees to remove, so needed to get my Db fixed asap..I have replaced the hydraulic filter and see oil spraying out so I know the pump is working. I do not have a manual, can't afford one right now..but am in need of someones expertise in the 995 hydraulic workings..can anyone tell me where the actual mechanism is that operates the lift? If I could find that I might be able to trace down the problem.. I can lift it manually but it won't operate from the lever, won't budge. any ideas?? I would appreciate it so much if someone could either email me or let me call them to discuss possible problems with it..I really need to get it going to remove all my downed trees here..thank you so much for your time.

Most likely one of 2 valves are stuck in the control valve. Look on the right side of your rear axle near fender. You will see an hourglass shaped plate secured by 2 screws. Remove plate. Directly beneath plate you will see two large caps with slot head . Carefully remove cap, washer . There are springs under cap. Donot drop parts as they will fall into never never land. The drop spool can be removed with a pair of snapring pliers. Remove and polish( polish ,not grind) reinsert ,check for free motion. Reinstall washer and cap on first valve before removing second. Repeat process on second valve. Withdraw valve assembly . Remove slotted screw from inside valve. Directly under screw is a plastic filter disc. Clean these parts, also clean orfice in lower part of spool. Replace parts and polish outside of spool. replace. This should remedy your problem. Done this many times in the field over the years.

also when having valves out,you will see two nuts on threaded rod this is a valve, also do not bend .try to lift this valve as it moves up to open passage to presure up lift arms (mine sticks form time to time).hope you have lever on left side to front as in running pto.have control lever in center-- height. and have lift and lower lever to rear.

I have a DB 1200 and had the same problem. What was happening was it was getting air the system and blocking the passage of fluid. I had to bleed the system at a coupler and bleed the air out. I bought the tractor last winter and it did this for the first couple months I used the tractor. Now, it has been working great all summer. I guess the usage I was giving it helped seal up what ever seal or joint was leaking.

Bill, if you figure it out please let me know. My grandfather had a 995 that does the same thing. I would love to keep it around now that he isn't but I can't afford to pay the dealer to fix it as they have already tried thrice.
