Like many things, pullin tractors come in all shapes, sizes and degrees of "modification". This VAC had been turned upside down and wouldn"t run unless we dragged it behind another tractor. Dad paid way more than it was worth at an auction just to keep the smelter guy from getting it.

We had a lot of fun bringing it back from the dead, and we have fun with it 10 or 12 times every summer when we chain it to something real heavy and see how far it"ll pull. Sometimes we win and sometimes we get spanked, but it"s always enjoyable to get together with family and friends to see who can deliver the whoopin.

My son Justin (pictured above) was 10yo when we got the VAC and pulled for the first time when he was 11yo. Yesterday he started college...

This is what we start with. Can"t really call it a basket Case because it"s a Moline. Mostly I call it stupid rusty p.o.s. I"m going to pull it for the first time this coming Saturday if the rain quits.

Nice looking VAC. Good point you and others made about rescuing old tractors from the junk. A friend of mine stripped/trashed a complete 44 Massy and a Farmall MD for pulling. I thought that was a shame. Of course he was about 18 years old at the time too, and not too concerned about preserving anything! Good discussion. Glenn F.
