My grandfather and I are restoring a CC Case (1939). He says when his father bought a similar CC Case new years ago, it was a dark bluish grey color. Does anyone know where we can locate this color of paint or the story behind why it was painted this color?

I was at a show several years ago and saw a blue CC. I just thought the guy was off his rocker. Never talked to him about why he did it, but there may be something to your grandfathers story.

THE LC GRAY PAINT ON C AND L TRACTORS HAD A TENDENCY TO FADE TO A SLIGHT BLUISH COLOR BUT THE CORRECT COLOR WAS DARK GRAY LC GRAY IS THE CORRECT COLOR

CCs were painted Case LC grey. I'm not certain what the codes are for mixing it, but I think you can still acquire it from a Case dealer. The old part number was B-13017.

My grandfather distinctly remembers the tractor being more of a darker smokey blue type color. He talked to another man some time ago who also remembered having a blue cc Case. He also read in a book that at one time they did paint some tractors a different color to use up paint. Any insight on such a practice? He has found pictures in tractor books showing tractors (CC & L) in the bluish color though nothing is mentioned about it appearing to be another color than grey. Mystery??

This is the first I've ever heard of a C or L series with a blue tint to it. It wouldn't surprise me, but I've never seen one. If you have your paint mixed, you could probably have them add a touch of blue to it to give it a more distinctive look. As it has been posted on this site many times, it's YOUR tractor, paint 'er pink if you want to... :)

When I dismantled my 37 CC it had blue paint under the deck where you put your feet. I don't think anyone would take the time to paint it that color under there.
