I'd like to buy a book - a good general non-technical history of Case tractors that has basic specs for the different models and some pics. Are the ones by Peter Letourneau good? Are others better?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty fond of "150 Years of JI Case" by CH Wendel, but they are hard to come by, and no longer in print. Rumor has it that Dr. Cy Kosis has a box full of them, maybe he'll let you look one of his... As long as you are wearing a surgical mask and latex gloves :)

150 Years of Case is available on E-bay. Go high sometimes. I did a search and found this book site where you list what you are after and the price you want to pay and if someone wants to sell it for that price they will contact you. Got a copy fairly reasonable that way. I like Full Steam Ahead, available from one of the authors yet, Dave Erb, and Peters book for a quick reference, shows hp and weights for many models.

I'd recomend "Full Steam Ahead" over all the other Case books I have or have seen.

"150 Years of J. I. Case" is really more of a model reference than a reader.

I had two of the "150's". The Great Mike Schotte talked me outa one of them. I did run across a guy a while back, who seems to keep running across 1st edition copies, still in the plastic. Everytime I figure hes sold the last one he pops up with more. Thats where I got the first one.

Peter's Buyers Guide is an excellant reference book to use as a go-by. It covers all models up through the 300-400 round nose and briefly touches the 200-900 series. Pictures of most. Full Steam Ahead is another and its followup book if you are a Case lover. Collect all the books if you get the chance.
