This engine seems to be cranking to slow. I just had the starter rebuilt, the solenoid replaced, the key switch replaced. I"ve jumped the starter directly off a battery, but still it"s just a slow err, pause, err.... Any suggestions from the Case lovers would be greatfully received.

Not to be a fly in the ointment here, but when you had the starter rebuilt did you tell the rebuilder that it was for a "wet" system? Just looking down the road if it starts acting up.

I told him it was for a CASE Tractor. They pulled out their reference book, found a PN, went back to their shelves and looked for a unit. Surprise! None on the shelf... That was Monday, by Friday a unit that looked like new, with a new Bendix gear end. $139 (good/bad??)

Mike, Have you had the battery tested on a load tester? Start their when check connections, check gounds . if all grounds are good then pull the starter and make sure that they did not paint the back of the starter, this would give you a bad ground, Also after you crank it see if you have a connection or ground area warm. Hope thiis helps. My thoughts Jerry

My friends grampa, a tractor collector spent some time looking it over. Turns out that the battery was not fully charged and even with providing a jump, it would start it. He called last night and said that after an hour on the charger, it started right up! Next stop Wallmart for a new battery, plus a new ground strap - old one is questionable at best.

It"s good for another month! Now on to the baler....
