In a Case L sales brochure from 1930 they list these whistles as accessories for the L. There is a line drawing of one and its connection to the manifold in another early Case booklet that I have..... Does anybody have an idea as to where I could get the manifold connection (some sort of pipe T connection it appears) and valve? I've got a four tube whistle (no model number, but probably the size of a No. 2). Even a few detailed photos would help, as I might be able to make the connection and valve unit myself. I left my e-mail visible so I could be contacted directly.

Fulton Co. Made those valves for the wistles. I found both of mine on E Bay. Get ready to put out some cash for a good one. Good luck TR

I've only seen the ones for Model T and Model A Fords on e-bay. The ones for the Case must be larger, as my Case L exhaust manifold/pipe, is much larges in diameter than a Ford Model T exhaust. Am I missing something here, or do the larger valves come up on e-pay too, and I just haven't waited long enough to see one?

I could have really helped you out today but I forgot my camera. At the Georgetown, Ohio show today I saw a L with the very whistle set up you are describing. The whistles mount on a valve that is connected to the manifold and there is a pull there so that you can turn the whistles on when you like. Maybe someone else went to the show and can send you a picture.

They were accesories for the crossmounts and early Cs and Ls. They were kind of a throwback in the dwindling days of steam when the engineer used the steam whistle to signal the threshing crew that he was starting or stopping the belt, time for lunch, needed fuel or water, a fire, or to run like heck because "she's gonna blow!"

Now days they just make really neat toys for P'rades.

Steve,

I've been meaning to get something zapped your way on what I have on the whistles, but have been busy. I'll try to sit down this weekend and send you some stuff.

Dr. Cy,

Still waiting for info on these whistles. Send me a note directly to my exposed e-mail address, and we'll not have to handle all these love letters in public.

Steve

Do u know, or have you tried using a regular steam whistle? Will it work as a aermore does?

I havent tried it myself but I doubt it would work. The steam whistle would work more off of pressure while the Aermore would be more off of volume. Thats just my guess from looking at how they are designed.
