I bought the '36 RC I asked about the serial number. Brought her home, pulled her less than 15 feet and she started her right up. She sounds wonderful. I just have a couple of questions:
1.) She's painted Flambeau Red. How much ridicule will I get at the shows if she's not gray?
2.)Was there ever any type of grille on this tractor. It looks pretty vulnerable with nothing in front of that radiator.
3.) I need to replace the pin that allows the hand crank to engage the engine. It is too worn to start the motor. Any suggestions on how to get the thing out? I tried a long pin punch and I couldn't budge it.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

LC gray is for C,CCand L not the RC. The RC gray on unstyled R and RC.It was light, almost the color of a fordson. There is nothing in front of the radiator.

First and foremost, it's your tractor and it can be painted any color you want. Second, No, nothing in front of the radiator. The RC wasn't offered as a "Dual-Fuel" tractor, so they never had shutters or a curtain. Third, I had to replace my pin also and used a torch to heat the crank (not the pin) then a punch and big hammer. I replaced it with a piece of a old broken screw driver that was of much better quality then the original pin, and happened to be the right size.

Old Abe's News calls for the following paint codes: PPG 32137, Dupont 87310, Martin Senour 99L11464. I believe I read that it was the same color as the Ford NAA.

for not knowing much, your 38 is very nice but is "styled", am I correct? the tractor in question appears to be unstyled, therefore no grill in front of radiator. therefore, from what I have been told, it should be painted LC gray like a cc or L. 38 started styling and painted flambouy colors.

I have the 1936 RC Case (One wheel in front) that my Dad and Mother bought new.

It was gray when they bought it, with the understanding the dealer would pick it up the following June and repaint it the "New Case Red", which they did.

When I had it repainted a couple years ago, we painted it Case Red because I wanted it to be the color that I spent lots of hours driving.

Starts and runs good, but leaks a little fluid.

If you want a picture, just let me know.

EARLY 38 WERE GREY LATER IN THE YEAR THE COLOR FLAMBEAU RED. THAT IS WHY YOU SEE SOME 38 GREY AND SOME RED . CASE YEAR ENDED IN OCT. YOUR TRACTOR SHOULD BE A LIGHT GREY NOT THE SAME AS C OR L.IN MY PICTURES YOU WILL SEE A 38 GREY AND A 38 RED . JR

I guess I should have read a different book. I would like to see a picture of a unstyled with dual fuel. I was under the impression that there was never a Waukasha FC or FK dual fuel manifold made, that coming from another book I maybe shouldn't have read.

THERE IS A HANDLE GOING TO MANFOLD THAT YOU TURN TO HEAT UP THE MANFOLD . ALL IT DID WAS RESTRICT THE EXHAUST AND WARMED IT UP. TRUE THERE WAS NO SHUTTERS OR CURTAINS ON FRONT.I DON'T THINK THEY MADE MANY BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN ANOTHER ONE LIKE MIND. MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE COULD ANSWER THAT BUT I KNOW THEY MADE THEM. MY EXHAUST COMES OUT THE SIDE ALSO NO HOLE IN HOOD FOR IT TO COME THROUGH.

Is your tractor a R standard?? From what I am understanding from the book's and ads I have the Kerosene was optional for $16.50 on the R, but not the RC. Don't really understand why. It must just be the way they have it listed. They also list it as being a add on and not a replacment when it comes to the parts involved. So I assume they used the same manifold.

NO MINE IS RC. R & RC WAS THE SAME MOTOR R WAS STANDARD & RC ROW CROP. I AM SECOND OWNER OF THIS TRACTOR AND I KNEW PREVIOUS OWNERS WHO BOUGHT IT NEW. I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE 1966 SO IT CAME FROM FACTORY THAT WHY. I WAS TOLD THATS WHY THE EXHAUST PIPE COMES OUT SIDE AND NOT THU HOOD IS TO KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE SMALL GAS TANK.GO BACK AND LOOK AT MY PICTURES.
