I have a friend who is restoring a Case threshing machine, and asked me what the proper colors are for it. He said that he has found traces of Flambeau Red, but I have never seen one painted that color.

Would anyone know what the correct colors are supposed to be?

I recently saw what was probably the last Case Threshing machine ever made in a storage building S of the I-90 exit for Rochester, Mn. Don't remember the name of the group that has it, but it was at a tractor show held annually by that group. Story is that it was originally purchased by the Case dealer there for a customer who passed away before it was delivered. Sat shedded in the dealer's inventory for a number of years before the "shot-gun" wedding between Case & IH. When the dealer went out of business, it was purchased by an older fellow who kept it sheded-he's now in a home but is planning to donate it to the group when he passes on, as long as they keep it shedded. Its never been assembled, has all the belts, etc in boxes on the machine. Its Flambeau Red, has rubber tires. We had a neighbor that had one that was just like it-Flambeau Red, w/rubber tires. I'd guess the later ones were Flambeau Red. Don't remember what the early ones were, I think they were probably galvanized metal. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Do you know where on the machine would be a serial number in order to determine its age?

Front right hand corner or opposite the main drain pulley, yes the last units were painted all one color with ruber tires

Will there be a serial number plate, or is it stamped somewhere?

Sorry, no I don't. Why don't you post the question to Don L, he probably knows. He'd know the people that run the show S of Rochester, too, you could call some of them-I'll bet they could tell you where it is. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
