Hi all,
Just pulled 500 out of shed to fix head problem, have pulled down top end to find that the precombustion chambers have rotted through. Looking to get them welded but doubt it can be done, anyone know of a compound that will fill such a hole and will handle the heat and pressure of a diesel topend. Possibly even a source for three new heads.
Cheers Brad

Brad, Sounds like a spray weld with fusible powder.
There are several brands on the market, but the numbers
that I am familiar with are Eutectic numbers.
The one called eutallite 6 or the newer # eutallite
universal are powders the will hold hardness to
red heat , suitable to repair faces on exaust
valves and is about 45 rockwell hardness (machineable). The other # is 10009 , very hard
(57 to 62 )and condionally machinable with hard
carbide but basically grind only .
