I don't think i'm crazy, but the fuel shut-off (to turn the engine off) on a 530 backhoe, is a knob you pull out, right? To start the engine, you push it in and to stop it, you pull it out. Has anyone ever heard of the reverse (pull out to start and push in to stop)? Thanks, Dan.

Thanks, one and all for your help. One more question, does anybody know where I can go to buy the time to work on it? Dan.

So how do I know what position it SHOULD be in? We are trying to bleed the pump and have no idea when the fuel is off or on. We're wasting a lot off amps cranking the starter. Thanks, Dan.

The tractors that I have seen that "pull out to run" have a notch or slot that the rod sits in to hold it out to prevent the operator from bumping it and killing the engine. If your's doesn't have a mechansm to hold the rod out, I would guess it is set up for "push in to run".

A/C tractors used to pull out to start, in to shut off.
