Will a Case 300 (311) pull it?

1957 Case 311 with triple range trans in pretty good shape.

Will this pull a corn silage (2 row?) chopper and wagon.

I have a few hills, but nothing to really speak of.

Speed to get the job done fast is not an issue as I would only be doing 30 acres.

Do I have enough tractor to run this?

Thanks

How about just using the outside throat and chopping only one row at a time and only fill wagons half full- you said you weren't in a hurry right? I honestly have never chopped silage but its just an idea

After having experience with chopping plus doing it on some hills there is NO way a 300 will handle a 2 row chopper in any hills. A single row and smaller loads will work but not two. It just don't have the horses or the traction. A DC might do it but on the ground and the corn we had it made the 730 snort pretty good. When I last was involved we had a 970 on the chopper and pulled the wagons with the 730. These were 16" boxes blown full. The 300 dug holes trying to pull wagons.

You get an old c-4 case chopper and you can pull it. I would be much better for you to get a 52 or later DC or 400 (big one). 30 acers is to much for a 300 and then alfalfa would kill you.

A one row chopper and small loads.
My 311b pulled a jd #6 chopper and small loads ... long long time ago.
If you are going to haul the loads with this tractor, make sure you have the tractor weighted correctly and your brakes are adjusted.
Go slow, remember speed kills.

I have a 311 and I vote, No. A truck to blow the chopped silage into instead of pulling a wagon would help, but I don't think you have the PTO HP to run the chopper.

NO WAY!! We pulled a 2row with a 630 back in the 60's. It would pull it but only after putting in a bigger foot clutch and pressure plate. And then only on the level, and I mean creek flats, FLAT LEVEL!!!

Do what we used to do go try and if you need more HP hang a chain on the front and get a 2nd tractor to pull you.

We could pull a 1 row chopper with a VAC. I would say. yes, but hills and mud and a heavy wagon are going to really slow you down.

A old 400 would play with 2 row chopper. It will be load but if you are not in a hurry a 300 will do it.
