I need help indentifying the year of this Case 630. The metal ID says its a 640C, but someone has put non factory decals on that say Case 630. What is it? How old is it? Also the PTO turns until you put a load on it? Help!

You hsve a "630 series" the 4 stands for a gas or LPG engine. Look for the serial number on the tag. For the pto, look for a lever behind you on your right side to engage. 630's are from 1960 through 1964.

I've engaged the lever, but as soon as you put a load on the PTO it starts slowing and will eventually stop. Any other suggestions?

It soundes like you need to tighten the pto clutch on the rear of the tractor. I assume this is a case-o-matic . Disengage the pto (lever down), remove the pipe plug from side of housing and turn pto stub shaft until the two spring loaded lockpins are visible. One of the lockpins will be engaged in a locking notch in the clutch pressure plate. To tighten the clutch, pull the engaged lockpin, using tool (screwdriver) until it is free from the notch and turn the pto shaft counterclockwise until the pin drops into the next notch. Do this until a pull of 60-65 lb of force to engage lever. I am taking this from a old I&T book. The 630 is a little differend thsn a 530.
