A couple of months ago, I was trying to find the owner of a Massey 1130 and a Case that I think is an 830 (can't get close enough to see), and I'm still trying to find the owner. There's a picture posted on this site of both, not a good one, but...you oughta see them now, weeds are so tall can barely see either of them hidden. Anyway, went to that village hall to inquire as to who owns them. They didn't know, but took me into town to meet a 80+ year old guy who has/had a tractor for sale. We went into his back yard and I saw two sheds, neither big enough for a tractor, so I thought. He opened the for sale shed and there is/was the first VAC I ever saw, and it is/was beautiful. He said he'd rebuilt it completely, and I believe the guy. A whole lot of orange, no spray over from a typical shoddy paint job, but the first thing I noticed was that Delco alternator, and the second was the new Ingersol belly mower. Only thing I saw wrong was about 30% on the fronts. He climbed on and hit the starter and it fired and purred right now. You should've seen the smile on his face when it fired, was like he was twenty again. Wanted $2,500 for it, and I'll bet is/was worth every bit, only thing was, I didn't and don't need it. I'm sure he said it was a '54 or '56, like the last year or close to it. Since then, I've seen junked out VAC's going for half that and more. Then he walked me over to the other shed and showed me his pride and joy, a D-14 that was every bit as mint, but not for sale because it had power steering that he put on it and at his age, could still use it. I ended up shootin the bull with the guy a couple of hours and heard stories from an old farmer that now lives in a city - worth every second too. I oughta get over to see him again, to see how he's gettin along, and curious whether or not he sold that VAC that I still don't need. Maybe get a picture of it, or both and put on this site, because they sure are beauts.
