Subject: Help with case SC hydralic pump
Body of Message:
having some issues with the pump on my 52' sc. It has the single pump not the dual. To give you the backround tractor gets used mainly for draging logs and towing a rather large trailer full of fire wood. Problem started when we first put a load of wood on the trailer. went to dump it (has a hydralic lift) and discovered that the pump does produce enough pressure to lift the load. Hooked the hydralics up to our JD compact and it goes up fine. Case should be produceing about 1100psi accourding to my book, JD produces about 1200psi. shouldnt be an issue. The trailer will lift empty but put a load on it and it wont go up.
Tore the pump down and had inspected by a hydrlic shop. said everything was in order within the pump end, the gears and everything. I presume there is a problem on the valve body side. Any guesses as to what can cause this?

anyone know what the spring rate for the main pressure relefe valve is? are they springs plunger and seat still available?

I dont know what the high pressure valve is set at currently but i intend to find out this week.

any help or suggestions would be apricated.

pulled the spring out this morning. looks like the coble gods have struck again. spring is broke. missing at least 1/2 coil maybe more. and had damn near 3/4" of flat washers stacked on top of it.

is the matting side of the plunger supose to have a step in it? or is it supose to be flat? what kind of surface is it supose to be? turned or ground? a

To add to what the others said, I would put a pressure gauge in place of the dump cylinder, then you can adjust to exactly what is called for or to what you decide, but you will know what it is and can prevent damage from too much pressure.

Hey Dave: That pump & valve is a pretty durable unit. Under the big cap nut on the rite top side of the valve body is the Pressure Relief Valve. Take the cap off & inspect the spring. If not broken, add flat washers 1 at a time until she lifts.

DCtom put a 5/8's nut on top of the releif valve spring. Could be a cheap fix.
