5205383 would be a 1948 tractor i think. This is worked out by subtracting 4 from the first two digits of serial no, ie 52-4 = 48. I assume this formula is for all Case 7-digit serial no's.

Hope this helps.

According to the serial number it is a 39 model. The big question is does it have a 3 speed or a 4 speed transmission. 39 was the first year for them and if memory serves me right the first 500 still had the C 3 speed transmission in them. Also someone posted about the throttle lever being different.

It has a 4 speed 'box in it and the oil pressure and heat gauges are mounted half way up the steering column, along with the control for the cable-operated radiator shutters. The throttle lever is mounted on the right hand side of the steering column, just below the steering wheel. thanks, Andy H.
